What a great City....got rained on today as I ran the riverwalk and it felt good, had soggy shoes but a great time....had some dinner at Carlos Santana's Maria Maria....and I met a gal named Sammy!
Like the old saying goes "Ya get more with a smile and a Gun than just a smile" my first night in Fort Lauderdale and a Taco Bell Manager was shot and killed....sad day, I drove by that morning and saw the crime scene tape....then on Friday traffic was stopped 6 hours on Miami's busiest freeway after some road raged guys shot another driver dead in morning traffic....never made it into the City that day, just as well....I don't think i could live here again, but a visit is always nice.
Atlanta's VARSITY for a Grease Job? I just looked and my LDL jumped 30 points. Lets see, I was headed south to ATLANTA....Richmond was.....well I just kept going...they have bad Highway designs...lots of blind spots and places where you can get into a spot but not out of a spot....or into a situation , but not out of a situation without losing some skin as the President would say.
They Developed the Freaking BUCKHEAD out of existince, I used to love going there and hanging with Charlie Minor and REM , Eddie Money and I shared a limo one night, but that was 24 years ago when Hotlanta had soul, here's your Buckhead Now! STEEL & GLASS up your ---!
I stayed out in Marrietta , where I met a former Detroit auto worker in her 40's and her parts were still in good condition...we enjoyed lunch and the 38 special band tribute until the train & rain came down.
Cruised up to Vermont (went thru the big dig) and it was like winter cool ....Ben & Jerrys is located in Middlebury and it's just as well cause I did not need any more calories after flapjacks and real maple syrup in Hero VT.
Cape Cod is pretty and it is a great place to Escape the routine, but avoid the Fried Fish & Chips, although they are tasty treats....it's all over when your trying to loose a lbs....I saw Stephen Wright at the Melody Tent.....funny yes, but an hour of that monotone routine in the round borders on a bad sermon at a High Mass !
New York City Drivers are THE WORST! I spent ? HOURS on the George Washington Bridge and the holiday traffic was bad but New Yorkers will cross 4 lanes of traffic sideways to get from the EZ-PASS to the CASH only lane & vise-versa....if you have a nice car, your dead meat...they figure you wont risk a fender bender......There's one Lucky guy in a Fourunner that missed me by less than an inch! "as they say in Jersey ... Forget About it!
